Last September when Miss Kwek turned eight months old, we brought her on her maidan overseas trip to Korea! it's also our first travelling with a baby!
To be frank, it felt more like a work trip for us than a vacation! Lol. However, it was all worth it! The memories we created with her were priceless.
Packing essentials for plane ride
1. Diapers
2. Wet wipes
3. Extra clothing (baby and parents)
4. Baby carrier
5. Entertainments for baby (Toys, books, etc)
6. Hot water
7. Bottles
8. Milk
9. Baby friendly snacks
We took Singapore Airline and had no problem bringing on board a thermal bottle of hot water as well as a bottle of room temperature water.
Just place everything in a bag and have the parent that is holding on to the child to bring it through scanning. It should be fine.
Plane ride with baby
We decided to take a day flight as opposed to a night flight as we tried to keep sleep disruption to the minimal.
We decided to take a day flight as opposed to a night flight as we tried to keep sleep disruption to the minimal.
We took the flight which departure and landing time coincided with her milk time so we could feed her and prevent potential air pressure ear blockage.
We took the bassinet seats which was pretty much a great idea. The bassinet, other then for napping purposes, serves well as a changing diaper station. It may also be used for placing toys and all kind of barangs like wet wipes, for easy access.
Whats more? The bassinet seats are right at the front. Should you have a screaming child, these seats will save you from constantly looking at death stares! Highly reccommended.
Very fortunate that Miss Kwek is pretty much a cooperative little one. Not much nonsense on board. Only a little yanking during take off and landing. Not due to ear blockage, rather, impatience in being forced to sit still on our laps for what seems like forever!
Anyone has solution for this situation?
And yes, babies can't sit still. Especially at this tender age when they start learning to stand with support. Miss Kwek couldn't stop trying to stand on our seats to play with the ahjooma sitting behind us. When she got bored, Papa Kwek carried her and walked the aisle while I enjoyed some screen time. This is why a baby carrier is on the packing essential list!
This flight felt longer than six hours! Lol. When we finally landed, Papa Kwek and I silently cheered and patted ourselves on our back!

We took a direct airport bus to our airbnb. The journey is about an hour. Our bus ride was a breeze. No nonsense from Miss Kwek and we got to snooze for awhile.
Upon arrival, the loft apartment was much smaller than we expected it to be. Cleanliness was acceptable. Stairs to the upper level was surprisingly steep. Location wise, it was pretty convenient. Located near Avenue of Youth, abundance of food were made available within walking distance. Furthermore it was easy to get to the subway too.
No pictures because I was too tired and it slipped my mind. I do recommend it for couples, friends (up to four pax) or small families (2 adults, 2 children) with older children who can climb stairs safely.
Papa Kwek's first agenda was to get us dinner while I do a little unpacking to prepare for Miss Kwek's night. Lucky them, got to explore and see the surrounding!
Our uneventful first day ended with us having street snacks in the comfort of our apartment while Miss Kwek sleeps away.
Stay tune to my next entry on our second day in Seoul.
