3D2N Family Staycation W Hotel, Singapore Cove

With the pandemic not anywhere near ending, we had our Singapoliday this year with W Hotel, Singapore Cove. I have to admit, this was pretty much a staycation I enjoyed alot though there were some restrictions in place like having to reserve a slot for the pool and meals

Being the very kaisu parents, we made reservation for the pool upfront for the 3 days we were there as the kids were really looking forward to the pool. Meal wise, we only reserved for breakfast as we do not like to be restricted by the timing.

Alright, so here's some video of the room and amenities available in the room. We stayed in the Wonderful Room and it was indeed, Wonderful! The room in general was very spacious and especially the toilet, it was a breeze washing the kids up. The kids even enjoyed bubble bath during our stay!

Breakfast was ala carte buffet and it was pretty good, presentation and taste wise. The kids loved the pastries so much, they finished the entire basket before we could have any!

On the second day of our staycation during our morning swim slot, it rained! We ended up ordering room service and it was a great choice! The chicken rice served, though really expensive, was one of the meatiest and yummiest chicken rice we ever had! LOL. Its true!

Thankful for the rain to stop after our meal and we were lucky the lunch time slot for the pool was still available. So off we went to the pool which was both the kids favorite through our 3 days there.

W Hotel pool consist of the main pool, the baby pool and there are jacuzzi corners around the corners of the main pool. C loved the shallow part of the main pool (about 09M deep) as she was able to float with ease, feeling less intimidated as she was able to touch the floor whenever she wants to. L on the other hand, preferred the baby pool for its little water fountain. It makes him splashing-ly happy. There's even a pool slide where adventure seekers could have some splashing good old slide fun!

Quay Side Isle is just a stone throw away hence on the first evening, we took a breezy stroll out and had our dinner at one of the many restaurants available for dine-in. After which, we explored the little area Christmas lights before strolling back to the Hotel.

And if you have not already know, W Hotel has a shuttle bus that brings hotel guests to Beach Station where guests can explore the beach or the other parts of Sentosa with ease without having to worry about transportation.

So on the second evening of our stay, we headed out to explore the other part of Sentosa Christmas lights and have our dinner. It came as a surprise how little Christmas lights there are around Sentosa. However, the kids were still overjoy, making their rounds and posting for photographs.

And worth mentioning is this bulldog statue at the W Hotel reception area which the little boy loved so much! He will make a trip over to say Hi and Bye to the statue every time we pass the reception area!

Just like that, our 3D2N Singapoliday Family Staycation came to an end! All recharged and ready to welcome the new year soon!

Eastern Europe: Day 12 Berlin

Be warned ahead that this is going to be an ultra boring post!!! :P

After arriving back at Berlin on the last day, we decided to head out immediately after a shower to do all our shopping and head back to do last minute packing before our night flight the very same day.

However, it was very unfortunate that it was a nation off day and the only shops that were opened were the eateries. *sad life*

We ended up roaming around an open market for a little before heading back to Vapiano for lunch.

After lunch, we decided to head back to the starbucks near our bnb to chill for the rest of the afternoon before our flight home. At Starbucks, an international f&b outlet where we least expected,  we met yet another hostile discrimination from the barrista. *Sigh* She was yelling so loudly at Mr Kwek just because she thinks that his pronounciation for the drink is incorrect.

Like HELLO?! We do have Starbucks in Singapore ok. Plus, you do know what he wants so why make a scene out of nothing?

Anyway it was our last day and we didn't bother to argue. We actually got so used to hostile stares that we were able to sit put at the outlet for some hours despite the too-free-nothing-better-to-do barista kept walking up and down giving us dirty stares for sitting so long.

Oh whatever.

Just as we were about to leave and head back to collect our luggage, it started to pour!!!!! Haa.... how so very lucky huh....

Yup as u can see, our mood were not dampened at all since it was time to go home! Back to our racial harmony home!!!!! Lol.

Overall, this has got to be the most memorable trip both of us took together. Both, the good and the bad, makes us appreciate what we have.

To be frank, Eastern Europe is an underrated beauty in itself. Other than Prague and Berlin which is most travelled by Asian, the other places should be more accredited for their beauty. However, it is very unfortunate that the more internationally known places were the places we had to deal with discrimination the most.

Perhaps Singapore is just so small and unknown that even on the cross border train, we met with difficulties when the local Czech Police checked our passports. Almost got accused of being some unknown refugees with alien red passports and unclear stamps....

English, such an international language, got frowned upon the moment we spoke it. Why? Oh well, I still have a million whys stucked in my head...

Still, since it has been a dream since young to travel round the world, I am gladful for this trip's experiences. Many take aways and the best one is: there's really no place like home. :)

Eastern Europe Day 11 Budapest [[Castle Hill]]

Our last day in Budapest was spent on the Buda side, up on Castle Hill! Castle Hill is pretty interesting as a whole with a fantastic view of Pest from Buda side! We really did enjoy ourselves very much despite the melt down we experience under the scorching sun.

There are two ways which Castle Hill can be access: either by climbing or taking the cable car. In lieu of the weather, we chose to take the cable car. Ticketing counter is just at the bottom of the hill, infront of the cable car track. Its hard to miss since there will always be a snake long queue.

Once we arrived, we were greeted by the great magnificent view of Pest! Great great love for it!
All attractions, mostly museums, are all chargable for admission. We decided not to visit any and just wandered around, soaking in the surrounding atmosphere.

Castle Hill, although small and walkble to every attractions, took us about 5 hours to complete visiting the free attractions around the town. Hence, if you will like to include visits to the museums, you will have to allocate a full day!

Oh, the Labyrinth museum is the only paid museum we visited as we passed by it while heading back to the cable car station. This is a creepy yet forgettable museum which other than the air conditional facility, has nothing much to offer. At least, it bored us and we didn't feel its worth the 2000Ft per pax (approx. S$10).

We headed back to Pest for lunch and chilled the afternoon away before heading to the train station to catch our train back to Berlin.

As I mentioned before, the train station is relatively backwards. Hence, do not expect any shower facilities. Bring wet wipes to wipe down. Brushing and washing of face can be done on the train's toilet.

After collecting our luggage from the storage area, we headed to the station board to look for our train track number and realised, the train had arrived! We made our way to the train and were pleasantly surprised at how spacious the seats were despite it being second class. Much much better than the train we took from Prague to Budapest.

So our 14 hours journey began and we survived back in Berlin at 9.30am the next day! Hooray!!!

Will be summarizing the trip in my next post so do stay tune to it! :)
