Travelling with a Baby: Korea Day 12-15 Incheon [[Fairytale Village + Chinatown + Bupyeong]]

The last leg of our Korea's adventure was spent in Incheon. We took a flight in to Incheon from Jeju and spent the last couple of days in relax mode.

Incheon is often known for being a metropolitan city rather than a tourist destination. The only reason we came was for easier access back to Incheon Airport and well, Incheon's Songwol-dong Fairytale Village!

Songwol-dong Fairytale Village
Address: 38, Donghwamaeul-gil, Jung-gu, Incheon
Directions: Incheon Station (Seoul Subway Line 1) and Exit 2.
Walk straight for about 200m and turn right into the Donghwamaeul-gil road to arrive at entrance of the village.

Incheon's Songwol-dong fairytale village was the only attraction we visited apart from downtown, Bupyeong Underground Mall.
Situated within Chinatown, Incheon's Songwol-dong fairytale village though small, was rather interesting and beautiful to stroll through. We had a fun time cam-whoring with the various mural and sculptures.
Within Incheon's Songwol-dong fairytale village lies a trick-eye museum that was themed around various animations/fairytales!This is one museum not to be missed! Interesting and quirky. Miss Kwek had fun looking at all the murals while we had fun posing with them!

Highly recommended!

After our visit to Incheon's Songwol-dong fairytale village, we made our way back to Chinatown and stroll around for a little before heading back to Bupyeong.
Bupyeong

Bupyeong Underground Mall is pretty huge with many shops and restaurants. It is a great place to chill and that was exactly what we did.

Most of our mornings were spent chilling at Starbucks situated opposite the main shopping mall in Bupyeong. It is often quiet and empty (great for Miss Kwek's morning naps) and has a great view of the road (great entertainment for Miss Kwek!).
While our meals are often taken within Bupyeong Underground Mall, especially at this particular restaurant that serves kongbul (콩불) because firstly, they have baby highchairs (yay!), and the food is affordable and great!
This concludes our first family trip with Miss Kwek! Though this trip was more tiring than we thought it will be, we are still glad we did it! Looking forward to our next trip together!

Travelling with Baby: Korea Day 10 Jeju Island [[ Sunrise Peak (Seongsan Ilchubong) + Manjanggul Lava Tube (만장굴) ]]

Our tenth day in Jeju Island saw us visiting Sunrise Peak (Seongsan IIchubong) and the Manjanggul Lava Tube as the weather turn for the better.

Sunrise Peak

GPS: 783-0959
Admission Fee: 2000won/adult, 1000won/child

It was my second time climbing the 180m high Sunrise Peak (Seongsan IIchubong). It turned out to be as tedious as I remembered it to be when I climbed it some 18 years ago! Kudos to Papa Kwek for baby wearing the missy up the peak!

Very fortunately, it was a pretty clear day and we were able to see the view of Jeju Island from the peak!

Manjanggul Lava Tube (만장굴)
GPS: 783-4818
Admission Fee: 2000won/adult, 1000won/child

After visiting the Sunrise Peak, we headed to Manjanggul Lava Tube (만장굴) which is a 30 minutes drive from Sunrise Peak.

Manjanggul Lava Tube (만장굴) Tube is one of the largest Lava Tube in the world. Though it is 13km long, only 1km of it is open to public to walk and view. The distance sounds short but in fact, felt really long with it uneven slippery pavement; made even more difficult baby wearing a baby!

We only managed the first half of it and saw the famous turtule rock and some lava flow lines formed many years ago (straightlines seen on the lava tube walls), before deciding to make a U-turn back to the entrance to exit. Yes, there's only one entrance to Manjanggul Lava Tube (만장굴) which serves as both the entrance and exit.

In order to enter and exit the , you will have to climb up several flights of stairs. Hence, not recommended for those facing physical challenges. If you are bringing a baby/toddler with you, do leave your stroller behind and baby wear instead.

Also, do note, it can get very cold in Manjanggul Lava Tube (만장굴) . Remember to bring along a outerwear when visiting!
After such a physical day, we decided to head back to our neighbourhood for early dinner. The lazy us ended up back at Suda Brunch Cafe for some delish food before retiring for the day.
The Sunrise Peak (Seongsan Ilchubong) and Manjanggul Lava Tube (만장굴) are both not to be missed. Do include them in your itinerary when you come by Jeju Island!
