I mentioned in my previous post, we stopped over at Alicante for a night rest after our
Day 2 Valencia tour.
Alicante is suppose to be the city with fabulous nightlife and beautiful beaches. We did not get to experience the nightlife the previous night as we were too tired out. However, we did managed to squeeze some time in the morning to visit the beach area for some cam-whoring session.
The beach was amazingly clean and beautiful with the sun rays reflecting on the sea water.
After the stop by at the beach, we left Alicante and it was the beginning of another 3 hours road trip to our next destination, Guadix, to visit the only cave community in Spin.
The road trip was a scenic ride and I managed to catch some nice photos from within the coach.
Guadix is in the province of Granada, southern Spain. It is famous for its cave dwellings which are still occupied today. Located in the Cuevas el Campo area, the houses are built into the clay mountains by dwellers hammering and shaping of the clay. It is quite an amazing sight both the surrounding and the cave house itself.
We were fortunate to get a chance to visit one of the dweller's cave house. It was an eye-opener to see the interior of the cave house. It looks nothing like a cave! Well furnished with natural constant air-conditioned temperature of 17 Degree Celsius.
It has been said that the mountains are free for claiming. Sounds tempting, isn't it? Perhaps, retiring in Guadix will be a good idea since we can build at least a 3-storey cave house for FREE!

After the visit to Guadix, we stopped over at a pit-stop for lunch before heading to Granada.
For lunch, we decided to give the paella a second chance. We concluded, we don't like it. It was way too salty for our liking. No more paella for the rest of the trip!
After we arrived at Granada, we had some spare time before the night program
(we were scheduled to watch a Flamenco dance performance). Mr Kwek and I headed out to explore the area near our hotel. The surrounding was relatively empty and quiet. We managed to find a bakery nearby and headed in for some sweet treats.
We finished exploring the surrounding within half an hour (
boring) and decided to head back to the hotel to meet the rest for the Flamenco dance performance.
Flamenco dance is a Spanish folk musical. It includes singing, guitar playing, dancing and handclapping. The musical is suppose to portrait a love story (not sure if it's a happy or sad story), however, it was too abstract and of course, citations and singings were in Spanish, I was unable to fully understand and enjoy the musical. Furthermore, the dance hall was small and everyone was seated on a small stool in two rows with the performance floor in the middle. At the end of the two hours performance, my butt and legs were aching!
In short, Flamenco dance is nice as a touristy thing to see,
not nice to sit through it again.
Well, this may not be the most pleasant experience but glad we've been there and seen the performance! :)
